Management and research team

The George Institute for Global Health at Peking University Health Science Center provides infrastructure as well as in-kind support for Center operations, while Qualcomm Wireless Reach provides funding, technical and project management support. The CCmHI is strategically managed by Professor Puhong Zhang.

Professor Puhong Zhang is the Acting Director of the China Center for mHealth Innovation; he is also Senior Research Fellow and Program Head at The George Institute for Global Health at Peking University Health Science Center.

 

After graduation from the School of Public Health, Hebei Medical University in 1992, Puhong started his career as a teacher and researcher in the same university. In 2004, he got his doctoral degree from Fuwai Hospital, focusing on cardiovascular disease interventions and health economic evaluations. From 2004 to 2011, he worked as the Vice Director of the Institute of Chronic and Non-communicable Disease Prevention and Control at the Beijing Center for Disease Control (CDC), Director of Quality Control Department of Beijing Management Centre for Community Health Services, and as the Chief Officer of the “National Action on Healthy Lifestyles for All” program at the China CDC.

 

In the face of the rapidly increasing diabetes problem in China, he joined The George Institute for Global Health at Peking University Health Science Center in May 2011 and is leading the Diabetes Research Program team in China.
